TRON is on headlines once again since the end of October 2020. On October 30, TRON CEO Justin Sun officially announced the live launch of JustLink on Twitter and other media outlets, dubbing JustLink as the “1st oracle project on TRON”. Developed by JUST Foundation, JustLink is a latest decentralized oracle which is created as a replica of major decentralized oracle system Chainlink. Sun has already tagged the new oracle project as “TRON’s answer to Chainlink”. In fact, JustLink derives its name partly from Sun’s first name (Justin) and partly from “link” of Chainlink. The oracle project has been introduced on TRON to improve the connection with off-chain data for the blockchain smart contracts and DeFi applications operating on them.

“Happy to announce #JustLink, #TRON’s 1st oracle project, is officially LIVE!”, tweeted Sun on October 30, 2020.

For developers, the new oracle will offer an easier and safer route to deploy various Decentralized Applications or DApps. For TRON, JustLink will inspire an exponential expansion of the TRON ecosystem, improving the potential of TRON-based projects in the real world. It should be stressed here that the launch of JustLink will leverage TRON’s scope in the DeFi world big time. DeFi applications operating on smart contracts need verifiable off-chain data which TRON could not provide for long given the absence of an oracle. Being a decentralized oracle, JustLink will assure easy access to verifiable real-life data that will enable TRON to create a more empowering environment for optimum functioning of DeFi applications.

JustLink isn’t the first oracle on TRON

But, the question that comes up here is whether JustLink is actually the “FIRST” oracle on TRON. In one line, the answer is “NO”. You have the highly promising Bridge oracle which was introduced on TRON in the second quarter of this year to cater to smart contracts operating on TRON. In fact, more precisely, Bridge Oracle is TRON’s “First ever dedicated public oracle” and the lately launched JustLink can be said to be a “1:1 replica” of Bridge Oracle.

Mention must be made of Bridge Oracle CEO’s tweet here which came just after Sun tweeted about the launch of JustLink on Twitter-

“Hi Justin, we started a year ago to plan the first oracle system on the tron network, but it wasn’t for justlink.. but for #bridge_oracle. we had several chat with your team including roy liu, will be nice to chat with you to discuss about this matter because that was our idea…”

In other words, you can say, JustLink’s launch on TRON is inspired by the introduction of Bridge oracle on TRON and the amazing potential it has shown for the leading blockchain network.

Being a public oracle, the Bridge Oracle allows mass participation of the public which TRON could not experience previously and also it was one of the major reasons that had hindered TRON’s growth to some extent. As Bridge Oracle allows mass participation, more numbers of small businesses will be able to participate and implement their businesses on TRON network. It will automatically lead to a dramatic rise in the membership base of TRON network.

Akin to JustLink, Bridge Oracle is also a decentralized oracle and is poised to broaden TRON’s prospective in the DeFi world. Being a decentralized oracle, Bridge oracle can assure tamper-proof, verifiable and genuine real-life data which DeFi applications need for their functioning. Bridge oracle sources information from various public data sources and also allows to add varied kinds of proof to prove the authenticity of injected data into smart contracts.

Yes, JustLink too will amp up TRON’s contribution into the DeFi world, but it was the Bridge Oracle that was the first to let the ball roll for TRON.
