MetaHash’s Metagate browser will usher in a new wave of decentralized internet where censorship is no more a hassle. In collaboration with HashtagSpace, MetaHash wishes to bring a new wave of internet browsing experience powered by blockchain technology.
The Internet we have Today
Today, the internet is powered by computers or servers located all over the world. But the storage system is still like the centralized banking system- they are centralized. Hosting services have to pay royalties to keep their servers from getting hijacked by hackers. There have been a lot of security challenges that claimed millions of dollars in a few seconds with this kind of service.
The risk is not limited to that, web owners apart from hosting services are the next victim of the internet’s centralization. So far, a website is popular enough, there will always be multiple hijacking attempts from hackers. No matter how secure a website may be, there will always be a time when the firewalls and security protocols are just not enough thus making the website susceptible to hacks. Hide-and-seek games between web owners and hackers will always be financially implicating for the web owner.
Web-users or visitors are the last set of people who suffer in the hands of the internet’s centralization. Being censored is what every internet user agrees to, in most cases to truly enjoy services. The very few who do not wish to be censored pay services to cover their tracks, but in most cases even powerful services like this fail.
A Decentralized Internet- MetaHash MetaGate Browser
Decentralization via Blockchain technology has brought a viable solution to the centralization problem in the finance industry, can it work in the case of the internet? May 29th, 2020, MetatHash announced a new service for the project’s MetaGate browser in collaboration with HashTagSpace- #domains and soon domain hosting on a decentralized network. #domains will open the world to a new form of decentralized internet where web hosting servers, web-owners, and web-users are secured with immutable and decentralized services. Just like transactions on the blockchain which are secure from hackers, our internet will be one day.
In the Same Vein
Unstoppable Domains projects have also started to think in the same direction. They provide domain names as NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) on Ethereum blockchain and hosting powered by InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). Decentralized websites like these are currently accessible on Opera Browser.
MetaHash blockchain is moving forward in its development, the decentralized internet will soon be ours.
